Casio ECR Setting Tool discontinued: where to get it and what to use instead
For the Casio PCR-T285, PCR-T295 and SE-S100 electronic cash registers. Updated October 2026.
If you have searched for the Casio ECR Setting Tool download and found dead links, that is not a mistake on your end. Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced in November 2020 that it was ending production of all electronic cash registers, and support for the product group ended on 30 September 2023. The Windows utility that programmed the PCR-T285 / PCR-T295 / SE-S100 family from a PC went with it.
What the ECR Setting Tool did
"ECR Setting Tool for T285/T295/S100" (version 1.00, 2017) was a small Windows program. You exported the register's settings to an SD card, opened that file on the PC, edited it, saved it back to the card and restored it on the register. The file is FILE092P.092, stored at \CASIO\SES100\AUTOPGM\ on the card. It covered nine areas:
| Menu | What it set |
|---|---|
| Department | 24 department keys: name (12 characters), unit price, taxable status, single-item sale, negative price, maximum digits for a typed price |
| PLU | Up to 2,000 price look-up items: name, price, linked department |
| Receipt Message | The logo message lines printed at the top of receipts, text or graphic |
| Graphic Logo | A 384 × 168 dot black-and-white bitmap |
| Receipt/Journal | Time, consecutive number, double-height characters, journal skip, receipt or journal paper |
| X/Z Settings | The gross and net total labels on reports |
| Clerk | Clerk sign-on and eight clerk names |
| General Feature | Consecutive number reset, key catch tone, journal clearing, saving sales to the SD card |
| Tax Settings | Four tax tables: rate, add-in or add-on, rounding |
Why you can't just download it any more
Casio removed the ECR support pages and downloads after the 2023 cut-off. Copies that turn up on third-party driver sites are unsupported, Windows-only, and you have no way to check they haven't been tampered with. The tool's own licence also prohibits redistribution, so reputable sites don't host it.
Your three options today
1. Program on the register's keyboard
Everything the tool did can be done on the till itself, in PGM mode, one setting at a time. The user's manual (still findable as a PDF) has the sequences. Naming 24 keys by typing letters on the number pad, then entering taxes and set codes digit by digit, is slow and easy to get wrong, but it costs nothing. Our set codes guide covers the general settings.
2. Find an old installer
If you still have the CD or an installer from before 2023 and a Windows PC with an SD card reader, it still works. It can't read a card the register has not written first, and nobody will help you if it misbehaves.
3. Use a browser-based replacement
PV ECR Tool is independent software that writes the same FILE092P.092 file from any browser, on a Mac, PC or iPad. It covers all nine of the areas above, adds what the Casio tool never had (type prices tax-in, bold characters with a checkbox, a logo converter that accepts any image, a printable key-label sheet), and your first program is free. Loading is the same SD card routine: how to load the program.
Which registers this applies to
Only the three models that shared the Setting Tool: PCR-T285 (North America), PCR-T295 and SE-S100 (international). Earlier models such as the PCR-T280 and larger ones such as the PCR-T500 or SE-S400 used different files and different tools.
